Lush has some great all natural products that actually work. Though they can be a little pricey their products have ingredients you can actually pronounce, so you know exactly what you're getting, which is a plus. Lush has amazing facial washes that really do clear up acne, inflammation along with evening out skin tone without drying out your skin. Herbalism is a great cleanser it is really good for the winter months because it is non drying and it cleans very well! Herbalism is a green soft almost dough like cleanser that you buy by the pound. You actually can buy it in large quantities because Lush cleaners are made without liquids so they do not expire.
"Herbalism is a a preservative free, clay-based, herbal cleanser that is made to help absorb excess oils and leave the skin looking less shiny, making it great for skin on the oily side"- Lush.com. We do find they're claims to be true. The gentle cleanser is great for sensitive skin it helps heal and dry up blemishes without further inflaming them. The clay helps dry out extra oil and the chamomile helps sooth skin. It also exfoliates using oatmeal. We do find that there is a little residue left on our skin after this cleanser so follow up with a toner, but we would suggest that with any cleanser. This cleanser does not remove makeup very well, so we suggest using a makeup remover to remove eye makeup or heavy face make up. After you have a clean face the cleanser does exactly what it is supposed to do: cleans, calms and moisturizes skin. If you prefer you can use it in the morning when your face has no make up on it to help combat pimples and oil during the day.
Wet your face first with luke warm water then apply a small amount to each section of your face in circular motions. We find if it is applied in sections (left cheek, right cheek, chin and forehead) it is less messy and easier to work with. Follow with a light oil free non comedogenic moisturizer/anti wrinkle cream.
I picked this up at the store I didn't expect much but I was wrong! We tested some perfumes and the perfume that we found that received the most compliments from men is Betsey Johnson's new self titled Betsey Johnson perfume. This perfume is considered a floral gourmand and it is absolutely delicious. It starts off with the top notes of grapefruit, pear, black currant and tangerine this makes it a gourmand perfume. The middle notes freesia, lily of the valley and red apple make it a floral perfume as well. The base consists of cedarwood, sandalwood, praline, amber and musks. All of these aromas unite to form an actually well rounded sweet, feminine and attractive scent. It first starts off very sweet but foody possibly because of the sweet food and berry scents, it then dries down to a softer more sweet musky smell. It's honestly a beautiful scent that is perfect for if you want to get someone's attention or go out on the town. It lasts all day and it smells also really good with the matching lotion. The bottle is over the top and adorable, we love it. The 1 once is pretty good to carry in your purse. I know this is an unexpected find, but the scent will really attract someone...seriously.
Every girl is on the hunt for the perfect nude lipstick and Modesty by MAC might be it. Modesty has an amazing color that is a pink and mauve nude. It comes in the amazing Cremesheen finish that has great pigment along with a shine so your lips look moisturized, plumped and pigmented. It's also amazing with a gloss on top. This shade is great because it is neutral and can be worn every day along with an evening smokey eye. The application is smooth and creamy it has a opaque color but it is not drying. This works great with a purple eye look as well because of the mauvey undertones in it. This is definitely a nude that will not make you look dead because of the great of it's pink tones. MAC lipsticks in general are also great because of their packaging designs, the top goes on really tight so it will not slip off if you throw it in your purse! MAC has the most helpful sales representatives so be sure to go try it on and check out their great Warm and Cozy collection because it's to die for!
Well now that Christmas is over we have to get prepared for new years! New years parties are just around the corner we suggest planning outfits as soon as you are done shopping at the after Christmas sales. Here's an outfit that we think would look adorable as you are counting down to the new year.
A black dress is always classic and cute and the best part is that it can be worn again to other events (no one will even know because black is so low key). This dress is great because it has a bit of glitz because of the sequined top. It has a great sillhute that doesn't show too much but is still a party dress (no wardrobe malfunctions while knocking back champagne).
Every girl should own at least a few pairs of stockings in general but seamed stockings are especially chic. They are great for parties when you want to vamp up an outfit even at the office.
We love outfits that encorpoarte different patterns and fabrings. These velvet and leather pumps are great to bring a bit of texture to your outfit.

Guerlain's My Insolence perfume is a great perfume for every day wear. The scent smells very feminine, soft and it really makes you feel pretty when you're spraying it on. This perfume is in the flower and gourmand category. The top notes include raspberry followed by middle notes almond blossom and jasmine with base notes patchouli, vanilla and tonka bean. Some perfumes when first sprayed you are hit with an alcoholic rank that you have to shake off but definitely not with My Insolence. The top notes are sweet almost like raspberries and cream but not overly sweet because there is a hint of powdery notes that come through as well. I don't think it is too sweet because of the hint of powdery notes and flower notes. This perfume almost smells like a warm, creamy and flowery french dessert in a bottle!
My Insolence is perfect for winter and summer you can wear it from shopping to going to a dinner. It smells very innocent, feminine, comforting and warm. As the day goes on the perfume base notes are creamy and vanilla-ish along with almond notes it also has a bit of musk at the end. The bottle is beautiful (it looks like a tilted orb in shiny milky glass with a little flower bud on top) but obviously it is not good to carry in your purse, but the perfume lasts all day so there is no need for that anyway. I personally love this perfume and definitely plan to buy one as soon as mine runs out, but remember that perfumes smell different on everyone. My Insolence only comes in EDT but it is very similar to an EDP. You can definitely smell the richness and body like an EDP, it lasts a long time and a little spritz goes a long way.
Make sure to test perfume on your skin before buying, do not use those little cards!
We're going to expand our site to perfume reviews! Perfume is very important, it can make the dingiest outfit smell respectable, it can bring back memories of the good times when you wore it and make someone remember you whenever they smell that perfume. There are perfumes that exude femininity and others that do not, the perfume should describe you. We are going to do a quick easy breakdown of perfumes for everyone to understand. Perfumes have many categories and classifications here are basically all of them:
Single Floral: Fragrances that are dominated by a scent from one particular flower; in French called a soliflore. (e.g. Serge Lutens' Sa Majeste La Rose, which is dominated by rose.)
Floral Bouquet: Is a combination of fragrance of several flowers in a perfume compound e.g. Attar Majmua & Fancy Boquet etc.
Amber: A large fragrance class featuring the sweet slightly animalic scents of ambergris or labdanum, often combined with vanilla, flowers and woods. Can be enhanced by camphorous oils and incense resins, which bring to mind Victorian era imagery of the Middle East and Far East.
Wood: Fragrances that are dominated by woody scents, typically of agarwood, sandalwood and cedarwood. Patchouli, with its camphoraceous smell, is commonly found in these perfumes.
Leather: A family of fragrances which features the scents of honey, tobacco, wood and wood tars in its middle or base notes and a scent that alludes to leather.
Fougère: Meaning Fern in French, built on a base of lavender, coumarin and oakmoss. Houbigant's Fougère Royale pioneered the use of this base. Many men's fragrances belong to this Since 1945,
Bright Floral: combining the traditional Single Floral & Floral Bouquet categories.
Green: a lighter and more modern interpretation of the Chypre type, with pronounced cut grass and cucumber-like scents
Aquatic, Oceanic, or Ozonic: the newest category in perfume history, appearing in 1991 with Christian Dior's Dune. A very clean, modern smell leading to many of the modern androgynous perfumes. Generally contains calone, a synthetic scent discovered in 1966. Also used to accent floral, oriental, and woody fragrances.
Citrus: An old fragrance family that until recently consisted mainly of "freshening" eau de colognes, due to the low tenacity of citrus scents. Development of newer fragrance compounds has allowed for the creation of primarily citrus fragrances.
Fruity: featuring the aromas of fruits other than citrus, such as peach, cassis (black currant), mango, passion fruit, and others.
Gourmand: scents with "edible" or "dessert"-like qualities. These often contain notes like vanilla, tonka bean and coumarin, as well as synthetic components designed to resemble food flavors.

To describe perfumes you maybe have heard the terms top notes, middle notes and base notes. Well these basically mean:
Top notes- How the scent smells right after you spray it, these are the lightest molecules that evaporate the most quickly. So sniff quick!
Middle Notes: These notes can be smelt after the top notes dissipate, these notes smell the best.
Base Notes: Base notes are another main theme of the perfume they bring in the solidity and tend to be the lasting notes. They are usually deeper and can not be smelt until around 30 minutes or sometimes more after the first spray.
Perfumes come in different concentrations (more scent molecules vs. less scent molecules)
Eau de Toilette (EdT): 5-15% (typical ~10%) aromatic compounds
Eau de Cologne (EdC): Chypre citrus type perfumes with 3-8% (typical ~5%) aromatic compounds
Splash and After shave: 1-3% aromatic compounds
There are also Niche perfumes that are not distributed to the main market (you will not find these at your local department store). These perfumes tend to be expensive and they have smells that are different than the perfume trends of mass marketed perfumes. What's The Rage will mostly cover mass marketed perfume.
So there you go! Now we can all understand some basic properties of perfume. Remember perfume is an art that appeals to everyone's nose and body hormones/pheromones differently, what may smell good on your friend may not smell good on you.
Ballet flats are nice and dainty but if you really want to add a sophisticated edge to your outfit try a pointy toe flat shoe. They elongate your legs because more of your foot is seen poking out of your jeans, unlike ballet flats that can stump your leg if you are not gifted with mile long gams. This look is great for running around town because it's cold we suggest a cute peacoat. This peacoat is a great maroon color which is all the rage this season, it looks great paired with grays and light blues. The darkness of the coat grounds the outfit and really makes the lighter colors and metallic shoes pop.
Cream blush is a staple in a woman's purse. Most cream blushes double as a lipstick and sometimes even a eyeshadow as well. Cream blushes are great because they blend into the skin to create a flawless, dewy and glowing finish. Everyone seems to overlook cream blushes but they are definitely needed in your makeup bag. We suggest a few brands that we own that are really worth the price because you get so much in each tube.
Shiseido Accentuating Color Stick, $33
This color stick has a great pigment so it shows up on your skin with the lightest touch. The color Rouge Flush is a glowing golden red that lasts all day. The color has very slight golden shimmer to it which really highlights your cheekbones and gives you a natural flush look. The color selection also includes highlighters as well. Cream highlighters are great because they blend seamlessly into your skin.
NARS The Multiple $37
NARS has a great cream blush as well. They provide a sheer matte finish so your cheeks look effortlessly flush. These blushes also double as a lip color. The creamy finish is easy to blend. The color selection is amazing: there are highlighters along with dark reds and barbie pinks. Our personal favorites are Malibu and Maui. Malibu is a dusty pink that looks great on your cheeks and lips, it's amazing!! You're cheeks look tan and flushed at the same time. It also creates a almost dusty pink nude look on your lips that looks great with a golden, clear or pink based gloss layered on top. Maui is more of a dusty red color that really makes your cheeks and lips pop. The color is very highly pigmented and it brightens your face without making you look like a clown. Literally you can apply Maui with a bit of tinted moisturizer and you are ready to leave your house.
To apply simply dab or rub onto the apple of your cheek and blend upward using your fingers, use the leftover on your fingers to color your lips and to drag lightly down your nose bridge. Cream blushes are great if you are on the go and have to look put together in a few minutes (students we're talking to you).
Feeling tired and stressed but still want to look your best? Well if you're a student or if you have a job you definitely know that sleep can sometimes take a backseat to other things in your life. The best way to counteract a sleepy face is with a hot pink cheek to bring color and life back to your face. To get the perfect pink cheeks you'll need two items.
Tipsy, the peach stain on the left has an amazing sheer shimmer that enhances the apples of your cheeks and your cheekbones. Apply this stain with by pushing up the tube and dabbing it on your apples of your cheeks and using your fingers to glide the stain from the apple of your cheeks up the cheekbone. Sheertone blush by MAC in the color Dollymix. This blush looks strong in the pan but it's actually very sheer and workable! It's a beautiful barbie pink color that has a slight sheer shimmer to it. Apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks to accentuate them and give them the pop of hot pink color that we've been looking for. The powder blush sets the cream stain and the cream stain keeps the powder blush on your cheek all day, no need for touch ups!
Estee Lauder High Gloss lip gloss is absolutely amazing. It moisturizes like a balm and has amazing pigments. The color actually shows up unlike many glosses which have pigment in the tube but when you put them on your lips they're clear. The color Blush is my favorite. It enhances natural lip color and makes my lips look luscious and plump.You can also apply it without a mirror because of the the contoured tip. This lip gloss is not sticky at all it's so smooth and amazing! If you're looking for a treat for your lips we suggest this lip gloss.
The holidays are coming up and that means cheer, eggnog and parties! So, what should a girl wear to be classy, fun and unique? We suggest going with a great dress that is simple but still has a bit of glamor. You can show holiday cheer without wearing the Santa sweater grandma knitted for you.
Pair this amazing dress with a pair of beautiful lace tights to add texture and to cover your legs in the December cold! We love Givenchy hosiery because of their great amazing patterns and good quality.
For shoes we suggest doing something with a bow or an embellishment to bring out your holiday cheer. Patent leather and velvet bows are a great accessories to add to your outfit. They bring in a classic holiday cheer without wearing the red and green reindeer sweater.
Sparkly accessories will tie this whole look together. Because of the embellished one shoulder neckline on the dress, we didn't pair this outfit with a necklace (the neckline alone is amazing enough). We suggest a great bracelet with a ribbon bow reminiscent of a garland wrapping down a staircase.

Cat eyes have been popular ever since the Egyptians used to wear them. Now a-days everyone can be seen with this cute makeup look. We love to create this look with cream liner, but it can also be done with liquid liner or pencil liner.

Do you want lips that will make everyone stop and stare? Then you have to try a bright fuchsia shade. Fuchsia is a great color that can be worn in the winter and in the summer. A cool toned fuchsia lipstick can be just the thing to brighten up a girl's face in the morning after a long night or even for a long night on the town. We suggest MAC’s Girl About Town lipstick. It is has an amazing strong pigment with a perfect cool toned pink/purpley shade. It lasts a long time even when you apply gloss on top of it. To wear: You definitely do need a lip liner because the shade is very bright. You can apply it lightly or blot some of it off for a subtler day look. We suggest pairing this bold shade with a neatly lined eye (black or brown) and hardly any or subtle eye shadow. Keep the blush to a minimum too just use blush to define your cheekbones. Use a highlighter to accentuate the high points of your face (nose bridge, tops of cheek bones, chin and forehead). Then line your lips with a nude lip liner and apply Girl About Town to your lips. Finish off with a clear gloss to make the color pop and mascara for huge lashes. We guarantee you will have show stopping lips every time without looking like a clown.
To celebrate the on coming holidays we decided to find the perfect red holiday lips. We suggest this great warm toned lipstick called Red Diamond by Elizabeth Arden. Elizabeth Arden makes great lipsticks. They all have high pigments, smooth application and good staying power. They also apply really thick so they really give good coverage especially with a gloss. This lipstick has a slight golden shimmer in it along with an almost corally red pigment. You could wear it every day with subtle blush and eye makeup if you love lipstick. It is absolutely beautiful! Red Diamond is a great shade for all you red lip lovers out there or if you just want to wear red lips for the holidays.
With skinny jeans being all the rage this season, we have forgotten about our beloved boot cut! Boot cut jeans are really important because they are timeless and look good with everything. You can buy a pair of boot cut jeans and wear them with sneakers or heels. It's really hard to find a pair of jeans that don't lose their shape, that flatter your butt and are comfortable but still stylish. AG's Angel boot cut jeans are the perfect pair of jeans. These jeans are so comfortable that you can wear them to class or running around with sneakers because they feel almost like sweatpants. They also come in stylish fades and shades along with a great silhouette so you can wear them when you're going out. These jeans make your butt look perky because the pockets are placed higher up and father apart. They also make your legs look longer because of the slight bell. We wear ours with with heels and with sneakers. These are great to wear when you want to look different from the crowd (every girl wears skinny jeans all the time). If you're going to buy one pair of jeans I would suggest the AG Angel jeans because they are a staple and should be in every girl’s wardrobe.
I think I just found my new favorite every day lip gloss. Though I still love Lancome's Fever gloss, Juicy Tubes and Chanel's Aqualumiere lip gloss. This gloss, I must say, is so cheap and moisturizing that it has replaced them as my new everyday lip gloss. The formula is a bit more sticky than my high end lip glosses but it's not overwhelming and massages nicely into my lips. The formula contains mineral oil and Petrolatum. Mineral oil provides moisture for your lips while petrolatum (petroleum) keeps the moisture locked in. This makes your lips pretty soft and keeps them from chapping. Unlike some of the Juicy Tubes the colors are pretty sheer but they are still noticeable. Your lips look very shiny and succulent once this is applied. I got it in a golden brown color and it gives my lips a hint of gold shimmer with a good amount of shine and it smells like chocolate! The tip is slanted for easy application (unlike the L'oreal Color Juice lip glosses) the tip is very similar to Lancome's Juicy Tubes. For only 7 bucks I think this is a good buy if you are looking for a lip gloss that can be layered over high pigmented lipstick or worn alone everyday.
When I purchased the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, which is a pressed powder that is supposed to keep your face matte for up to 5 hours, I did not expect anything. I was really surprised to see that the pressed powder controlled my shiny t zone, was gentle on my skin and didn't give a gray ghostly appearance when you apply it with a big powder brush (it can be a bit heavy if you use a puff). The powder comes in an array of shades but they are all pretty translucent, which is good. I think it is a pretty good powder it's almost as good as my Nars powder and it costs so much less. The packaging does stink though. It's in a really cheap plastic container that never actually closes. It also doesn't come with a brush or puff. It doesn't exactly last for a full 5 hours, but it does come pretty close. But it is so cheap and works wonderfully I can't really complain. I would really suggest this powder for oily, combination skin types or if you want to set your liquid foundation. I am going to keep a look out for a powder that is absolutely perfect, but I will give this 4 out of 5 stars.
I bought a bottle of DERMAdoctor Tease Zone gel and but it just got thrown in the back of one of my bathroom cabinets. But, today I used it for the first time in months and I am glad I did! It is supposed to control oil and shine all day, you can use it under your makeup or on top. I put it on this morning. It has a silky smooth texture that absorbs into the skin really easily. It is really gentle on your skin. You can actually see your skin becoming matte as you apply it. After it has dried you can follow up with liquid foundation or powder.
During the day my face was very matte, it didn't look or feel oily and I didnt' have to blot my face. By the end of the day around 8 hours later my face was a little oily but definately not as much if I didn't blot my face along with not using the Tease Zone gel. Make sure to apply a very little amount of the gel or you will get white streaks! A little goes a long way. For the small ammount you use and how long it lasts it's really not that expensive ($35 for 50ml). I would suggest this product if you have oily skin that makes you constantly apply pressed powder very often each day.
Patene Beautiful Lengths is a fairly new line of shampoos and conditioners. Patene suggests that "Beautiful Lengths helps you grow your hair longer with Aquacurrent Science, protecting each strand of hair—directing the movement of moisture and providing strength against damage. Our Aquacurrent Pro-V formula makes your hair 10x stronger against damage".
I recently decided to use a drugstore shampoo and conditioner instead of salon brand. I've been using this shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks and I find that it is good for certain hair types. If your hair is very thick, long, dry and or curly like mine then it is a good product to use. If not, it might weigh down your hair and make it look greasy. I think the protective barrier is what ends up weighing down certain hair types. This is fine if your hair is thick but can be a problem if you have short, thin or straight hair. I don't know how this product would work on chemically treated or died hair. Obviously this product will not make your hair grow but will protect your hair so it doesn't break off as it grows at it's own natural pace.
All in all, my hair feels soft and moisturized it looks shiny almost as much as my salon brand staples. For the drugstore price I think this is a very good deal, you also get a lot in each bottle. The conditioner is really thick so it really coats each hair strand. It also smells really good! I think it's a pretty luxurious conditioner for a drugstore brand. I put it on after I shampoo and leave it in for a bit as I shower then rinse it out. My hair comes out soft and detangled after too. I suggest giving it a try if you have thick, long and dry hair!
Regular old drugstore Witch Hazel is one of our new favorite cheap products. For about 2 bucks you get a huge bottle that can be used as a toner. Witch Hazel calms the skin while disinfecting it. It clears up acne after repeated use, evens skin tone and keeps skin oil free. We suggest using it before bed after you have cleansed your face you can also use it after a sweaty workout at the gym to clean pores before they get clogged. It removes excess makeup and residue that your face wash might have missed. Just dab a cotton ball of it on your face and follow with moisturizer and/or acne medication.
Cross body bags are great for everyday wear because they stay out of your way and can hold all of your essentials while still looking cute! These bags are particularly great for a fast paced person that is always on the go.
Guerlain has always been one of my favorite beauty and perfume brands. All of their makeup products look like a work of art and work wonderfully. I went to Sephora and purchased the Guerlain Terracotta Mineral Bronzing Powder. Guerlain powders are finely milled and provide a great even and soft coverage.
The Guerlain Terracotta Mineral Bronzing Powder can work as a bronzer or a powder foundation to create a bronzed matte look. The powder is so light it melts seamlessly into my skin to provide an airbrushed coverage. The powder is packaged in a black round case and the powder sits below a screen. It comes with a mini kabuki brush that applies the powder really well. Using a kabuki brush allows the bronzer to be applied like any other mineral makeup. With mineral makeup you want dip the brush into the powder and rub it on your face in a circular motion. This breaks down the molecules in the powder to blend into your skin flawlessly.
Try this powder in it's three shades of tan (Light Medium and Dark) and expect many more Guerlain posts to come!
Putting on makeup everyday can be tedious and time consuming but sometimes necessary. So, we put together this list of products that are quick and easy to apply. We suggest keeping everyday makeup neutral but still enhancing your skin tone and features. This doesn't mean you can't have some fun though! Take one aspect of your face to play up each day using the new hottest trends (dark purple lips, fully lined eyes..etc). Here are some products that we own and use everyday.
For foundation we suggest a powder foundation for a nice matte look. Powder foundation is great because it keeps facial oils at bay and adds a light coverage. The Chanel Double Perfection Natural Matte Powder Foundation is our personal favorite product. It comes in an array of shades and you can go a shade down to create a tanned look. This foundation is highly pigmented so it doesn't' give a gray dusty layer. It's velvety and can be applied with an included sponge for heavy coverage or your own brush.
For blush we suggest a tanned pink look. Lancome has a great matte and natural color blush line. Lancome's Blush Subtil in Rose Romantique is a great option for natural looking blush. This product has a velvet consistency with amazing pigments. The color lasts for a long time so touch ups are hardly necessary. This blush comes neatly packaged in mirrored black compact with a small brush included. The brush is great for when you have to apply it on the go or for travel. We suggest a large blush brush if you are at home though. (Color not shown below)
For eyes we suggest loose powder kohl eyeliner. The application process does take some getting used to but once you've learned how to do it you'll find your morning routine will go a lot faster. Powder kohl eyeliner is traditionally used in the middle east and India to create perfectly lined eyes. Guerlain makes an amazing kohl eyeliner called Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner. This liner is a soft, fine and highly pigmented colored powder that is applied to the eyes using a sweeping method (click HERE to see a video explanation). The application doesn't hurt at all and it takes like 2 seconds! It comes in black, brown and blue. If you have pale skin we suggest the brown but if you have olive skin or darker the black is beautiful. This product is sold at Sephora or at department stores. Lip gloss is a staple in a girls makeup bag. Many companies make lip gloss that has moisturizing properties so it's good for your lips and doesn't dry them out. This mascara is applied using a double twisting method (instructions are included). It really lengthens lashes and thickens them without any clumping. It also has a great shiny black color that doesn't fade all day long. The best thing about this mascara is that you don't need it to be waterproof because it doesn't flake or smear even in hot heat. Because it's not waterproof it is easy to remove. A drugstore option is the Colossal Volum' Express Mascara by Maybelline. It doesn't clump if it is layered on when still wet and provides length and thickness.
